Aprendizaje de la lectura y escritura en personas con Trastorno del Espectro Autista: Percepción de las familias

Resumen

El Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) es un trastorno del neurodesarrollo que afecta diversas áreas, pudiendo ser la lectoescritura una de ellas. Es fundamental identificar estas dificultades para poder desarrollar programas de intervención adecuados a las necesidades de la población. Para ello, puede resultar de utilidad la opinión de las familias, ya que aportan información relevante sobre los procesos de aprendizaje de lectoescritura de sus familiares con TEA, a la par que participan en los mismos. Por tanto, el objetivo del presente trabajo fue conocer el proceso de aprendizaje y las características de lectura y escritura que presentan las personas con TEA desde el punto de vista de las familias, empleando para ello un cuestionario en formato online. Finalmente, se analizan un total de 55 respuestas, cuyos resultados ponen de manifiesto la existencia de barreras en la adquisición y posterior desarrollo de la lectura y la escritura de las personas con TEA. Pese a ello, cabe destacar que la bibliografía consultada para la comparación posee resultados contradictorios, lo que parece ser consecuencia de la propia heterogeneidad del trastorno. Por ello, sería necesario llevar a cabo futuras investigaciones que se focalicen, por ejemplo, en comprobar si existen diferencias en la forma en que los padres de niños con TEA perciben las habilidades de lectura y escritura de sus hijos en función de su nivel de apoyo, lo que permitiría elaborar planes de intervención del lenguaje escrito específicos.

  • Esther Moraleda-Sepúlveda, Universidad Complutense de Madrid
    • Doctora en Psicología. Licenciada en Psicología y Diplomada en Logopedia. Profesora en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Imparte clases en distintos posgrados y másteres, así como en cursos de especialización. Sus líneas de investigación principales son trastornos del lenguaje y necesidades en colectivos con discapacidad. Ha realizado estancias internacionales en el Institute of Behavioural Science (Universidad de Helsinki, Finlandia), en el Laboratorio de Neuropsicofisiología (Universidad do Minho, Portugal), en la Universidad de Santander (Colombia) y en la Universidad de Santa Fe (Estados Unidos), así como en otras universidades nacionales. Es autora de más de 80 comunicaciones y ponencias presentadas en congresos nacionales e internacionales, y más de 30 colaboraciones en forma de capítulos de libro y artículos en revistas especializadas. Compagina la docencia con la práctica clínica y la investigación.
